WH Ireland Group plc said on Monday, April 20, it is in talks to acquire parts of Cantor Fitzgerald Europe’s mid-cap corporate finance business.

The London-listed wealth manager and stockbroker said the talks, which include the Wall Street investment bank’s corporate finance business for companies listed on London’s junior AIM market, were very preliminary and would require third party consents even if an agreement were reached.

WH Ireland CEO Phillip Wale joined from Cantor Fitzgerald in 2018, where he had been head of fixed income, according to information from The Deal’s sister company Boardex, a relationship-mapping service.

WH Ireland is advised by Andrew Emmott of Spark Advisory Partners Ltd. The company’s shares were priced at 43.5 pence in early afternoon trading, Monday, unchanged from Friday’s close. The company has a market capitalization of £21.18 million ($25.95 million).
